He nodded,”You should lay down I rather dislike watching people fall to the ground..”

"Oh, well, if it makes you uncomfortable- Of course I’m not going to die lying down. It’s a cliche for submission. I have to take your hell-hound head on. Silly demon."

He groans,”Whatever fine I really don’t care ugh.” He whistled it appearing,”See you on the flip side.”

Acadia smiled at the sheriff. “Hey. What’s up? Any new jobs in the past twenty four hours?”

"A couple mostly just a party out of control."

"So basically the highlight of your day was a couple of drunken idiots having a pissing contest?"

"Actually it was a bunch of teenagers but yeah highlight of my day so far."

"Sounds a bit boring. No offense."

"I know it is."

"Wow, tough talk. Shaking in my boots," Kat says conversationally. She knows this guy’s dangerous, but she wants to mess with him just a little.
He groaned,”Whatever.”
Kat tilted her head back and laughed, blonde hair coursing down her back. “Aww, sorry, did I touch a nerve or something?”
The angel blade he’d lifted off a dead sibling came into his hand,”Not in the mood today.”

Kat swore under her breath in Russian. “I can see that.”

"And you know Russian amusing."

She laughed in response. “Well, it was unintentional…believe me,” she replied, shaking her head. “You can’t get cell service out here?” Her eyes glanced to his phone curiously.

"Actually you can you just have to have some luck being sheriff I need a cell phone more then I need a landline."

“Sheriff?” She asked, smiling a bit. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize…you can borrow mine if you need to!”

"It’s alright and I’ve got one it works fine." He shrugged,"Just gets dropped calls sometimes."

Acadia smiled softly. “Alright then. My name’s Acadia, I’m gonna be in town the next few days.” She walked over and handed the man a card with her phone number. “If you need anything just call, okay?” She smiled gently at him once again and began walking again.

He looked at the number slightly confused before heading back to work.

The next day, Acadia was sitting at the local diner when the bell on the door rang, and looking up, she saw the same man from the day before at the park. She waved at him from where she sat.

He smiled sliding in next to her his sheriff badge was shining in the light but he didn’t care,”Hey.”

Acadia smiled at the sheriff. “Hey. What’s up? Any new jobs in the past twenty four hours?”
